People get married everywhere and everytime. In England, the summer is often the best season for weddings! What i did’nt know is the fact that people here, seem to really love having live music at their big day !
It’s a great experience to entertain people in such a special day. They are already in a good mood, especially after the ceremony, when the pressure is gone and it’s all about celebrating with your friends over a garden bbq and a glass of cider.
The fact that i’m a one man band and that my act is quite self contained, allows me to play in every situation.I set up in mansions, gardens, private living rooms and historical gardens, once even on a steamboat !
As an ex photographer, i love walking around between sets, and take snapshots of the day with my little compact camera. There’s something magic in backstage photography….the pictures that no one would take..!
From my point of view i often see how the party unfolds. I play some chilled out tunes when the guests arrive and they have their first drinks. Then normally voices get louder and people start feeling the music a bit more…this is when i start playing some upbeat Ska and reggae…on a sunny day, you can’t beat a bit of jamaican music !
I do have a friend who owns a taxi, and so i can afford to travel all across the country to play in some remote rural areas, when some of the most amazing villas and wedding venues are waiting to be discovered !
Nothing tastes as good as the first sip of stout after a set !!! Even though, i recently discovered the pleasures of cider !
